Dr. Megan Ng

Hello! I am Dr. Megan Ng, a dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for education and medicine. With a foundation in both allopathic and holistic healthcare, I aim to bridge the gap between these disciplines to create a more comprehensive approach to patient care.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology with High Honors and a minor in Music from UC Davis. During my undergraduate years, I was a pre-med student, doing everything I could to get into medical school. I worked as a Clinical Research Assistant at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, gaining experience in an acute care setting. Additionally, I volunteered at UC Davis Medical Center across various departments. On campus, I joined a student-run clinic providing basic healthcare services to Asian communities in Sacramento, giving presentations on the latest research in cancer and preventative medicine. I also played in the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra as a cellist, having the opportunity to perform incredible pieces like Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and several modern classical compositions.

During the summer as an undergraduate, I was a Team Advisor at the National Student Leadership Conference in Washington, DC, teaching healthcare and leadership to high school students. I also participated in several medical service trips to Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua, where I provided basic health services and medical education to rural communities. Although I gained immense knowledge in the emergency department and on my medical service trips, it was hard to envision myself as a medical doctor.

I was in such mental turmoil because I had worked so hard in my undergraduate studies to be a perfect candidate for medical school, spent money on MCAT prep and the MCAT exam, only to pursue a career I didn’t feel like I could thrive in. I was in so much distress that I started experiencing intense hip pain, which led me to see a chiropractor. The contrast of this healthcare setting compared to a hospital or medical clinic was huge. Although patients were in pain and struggling with various illnesses in the chiropractor’s office, they were full of vitality and health. The doctor was also full of energy and enthusiasm I hadn’t seen before. He convinced me to become a chiropractor so I could help people achieve health. As soon as I decided to go down this route, my hip pain disappeared.

I received my Doctor of Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College West, graduating Summa Cum Laude and as Valedictorian. During my time in graduate school, I tutored Biochemistry 1 and 2, as well as Chiropractic Boards, helping students master complex subjects in a short amount of time. As a student, I studied a specialized chiropractic technique that relied heavily on my anatomy knowledge and another technique that addressed how stress can create pain.

After graduating, I worked in Los Gatos, seeing patients of all ages and health concerns—from simple back and shoulder injuries to complicated cases like addiction, long COVID, and fibromyalgia. Although I love interacting with patients, treating them, and watching their physical and mental health improve, I decided to follow my passion for teaching anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and healthcare.

Through my experiences in both research and clinical practice, I recognized the importance of integrating different medical philosophies, and came to appreciate the strengths of both allopathic and holistic medicine. I remain dedicated to educating future healthcare professionals and fostering a more compassionate, patient-centered approach to medicine. I aim to introduce students to many medical philosophies, and demonstrate the pros and cons of each while showing how they can work together to create a healthier world. My mission is to empower future doctors to embrace a well-rounded, empathetic approach to patient care and shape the future of medicine.
